Visit to the Kyoto International Manga Museum [12月 16,2014 ]

On November 18, the students of the Practical Japanese Course visited the Kyoto International Manga Museum for their off-campus activity. Mr. Saiga Tadahiro and Ms. Yoo Sookyung, the researchers belonging to the museum, gave us a lecture on Manga and a guided tour in the museum. We heard the interesting story about the history of Manga in Japan and saw many precious Manga of early period. In the guided tour Ms. Yoo led us to various parts of the museum, giving detailed explanations about the facilities and the exhibitions there.
A lot of students said that Manga was not so common in their country and it was regarded as a kind of children’s reading material. They were surprised with the great difference of Manga’s position between Japan and their own country, as they fully recognized after this visit that Manga played an essential part in the Japanese society.
